I'm seriously thinking about starting my own GPT site after the holidays, probably in January. This fraud stuff is scaring me though. I'm wondering what kind of effect this is going to have on site owners, and the GPT world itself? It's definitely going to be a challenge keeping everybody honest, so the advertisers pay out and it's worth the time and effort to run the site.
We'll see after the holidays how things are going. I don't want to start any big project like that right before the holidays anyways.

I don't want to start any big project like that right before the holidays anyways. I know you didn't ask for my opinion, but I'm gonna give it anyway! LOL I would NOT advise starting your own. First of all, there's not much money to profit. I have been conversing with current site owners and 85% of them are in the hole. Ryan, the owner of Beer Bux is closing shop already You have to buy a domain name. You have to have a site designed and if you're no webmaster you have to pay someone to do it. Most GPT sites use shift code. It's anywhere from $120 to $250 to purchase the package from them. They then charge a fee of $19.95 per month to maintain the site for you. Most GPT site owners say people should have AT LEAST $1,000 aside in case you don't get paid from the advertisers because you will want to pay your members. They feel it's bad business to not have some back up money. Then, make sure you have money aside for the contests you run. You have to run contests because the competition is so fierce since there are so many GPT sites. With all this fraud stuff happening, not ust with members but with site owners too, you have to realize many people will not trust new sites. There are some new sites out there run by 15 year olds! WTH?! I don't trust new sites anymore. I narrowed the list down to 13 and I may narrow it even more. It's insane.

See Lisa, that's why I come here before doing anything! LOL I've done a little research, and plan to do more. I didn't know that most site owners are in the hole. I've only emailed with a couple of owners, and one told me he makes a profit of $1000-$3000 a month. Now, if this was the norm, it would definitely be worth a shot. But, after reading your post, I'm wondering just how true that statement was? I'm not saying it's a false statement, but I've come to trust your advice. I suppose the older, more established sites make quite a profit, but like you say, the newer, lesser known sites are probably stuggling and this fraud stuff isn't making it any easier. I'm still contemplating it, but if I do it, it's not going to be any time soon. I don't have the extra money to set aside for "just in case" right now. I want to run a good site, where my members trust me. I'd hate to not be able to pay them. Anyway, thanks for the advice. Never worry about giving me your unsolicited opinion. I'm always happy to hear what you have to say. Thanks!

All I did on BuckFever was the PTC ads. I didn't do any offers on there. So far no reversals on FTT today.
